PopCrunch Celebrity News Blog

Entertainment blog PopCrunch is concerned with all aspects of popular culture, not just celebrities. Published by Ryan “Cowboy” Caldwell and a small staff of writers, the site covers everything from television, movies and sports to books, video games and tattoos. In other words, if it’s interesting or popular, PopCrunch probably covers it.

There’s no lack of celebrity buzz on the site, though. PopCrunch features tidbits on the stars on a daily basis, along with clever commentary. The emphasis is primarily on bizarre or bad behavior (Lindsay Lohan’s court woes, celebrity Twitter rants), but PopCrunch gives space to upbeat news, too: proposals, premieres and baby bumps, for example.

PopCrunch sets itself apart from some of the other entertainment blogs with its original humor and trivia content, often in list format. Previously featured stories include “25 Dumbest Celebrity Quotes,” “10 Most Disturbing Books of All Time” and “8 Bizarre Banned Things from Around the World.”

In addition to the lists and hot news topics, PopCrunch also has a large archive of celebrity photo galleries, each with multiple shots of currently hot stars of all types. Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and the Jonas Brothers are just a few of the famous names with extensive photo galleries on the site.

Some of the site’s most popular content combines the list-type stories with the celebrity photo galleries. Lists like “The 50 Hottest California Girls” and “PopCrunch’s 100 Hottest Women of 2010″ are huge photo essays, displaying some of the steamiest pictures ranked in subjective order as chosen by the PopCrunch staff.

PopCrunch has taken a bit of criticism from other blogs for making errors in some of their lists (most notably including University of California, Santa Barbara alum in a list of hottest Cal gals, a distinction that would be lost on casual readers). The opinion-based and humorous nature of most of the articles means most of them are in the spirit of fun, though.

The site is run by PopCrunch Media, a self-described “small publisher of celebrity lustiness.” PopCrunch.com also maintains a Facebook page of more than 13,000 fans, with links to current articles as well as additional news and commentary. The site solicits freelance contributions on its blog, asserting that, “If you want us to help make you rich and famous, hit us up, we just might have a gig for ya.”
