Pope Benedict XVI visits Israel

Breaking stories this morning abound about Pope Benedict XVI, who had a slip and fall accident while on vacation in the Italian Alps yesterday. The 82 year old Pope suffered a small break in his right wrist. He was able to still say Mass this morning and attend a breakfast.

The reports didn’t say what caused the Pope to slip and fall. He could have been accidentally injured due to negligence on the part of the chalet he was staying at. The elderly have to be particularly mindful of slip and fall accidents due to the fragileness of their bones. If it proves that his accident was caused because of an unsafe condition, the Vatican could sue the chalet in a personal injury lawsuit for medical expenses.

I am sure all the Catholics around the world join me in saying a prayer that the surgery goes well and he is able to be up and about soon.
