Personal Injury

The mysterious thing about personal injury is that it can happen anywhere and at anytime. The injuries can be as insignificant as a scrape or bruise or as serious as a broken limb or even death. Some personal injuries don’t even involve your physical body but are emotional or psychological such as libel or slander.

Medical Malpractice or Drug Addiction?
There’s a Fine Line Between the Two and it’s Called Hollywood Blvd

We’ve seen it time and time again in Hollywood.  When fame, money and power hit all too suddenly, things can get a bit out of control.   There has been no shortage of drug-related deaths in Tinsel Town, even dating as far back as films themselves.  But in this day and age of corruption in the medical field, one has to beg the question, is it always as simple as drug addiction, or is there more to dig into?

Shocking still is the death of Michael Jackson, who died at the age of 50 just over a year ago.  His doctor, Conrad Murray, has long been accused of providing Jackson with an over-abundance of prescription drugs, including a potent anesthetic propofol, which eventually caused his fatal cardiac arrest.

Seven other doctors who cared for Jackson were free of wrongful death charges in late July 2010.  Murray, not one of the 7 being investigated, had previously pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter after allegedly providing Jackson with the deadly prescription cocktail.

Joe Jackson’s attorney, Brian Oxman, says about the verdict:

“I am very disappointed.  The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public is ignoring reality.”

Earlier this month the wrongful death suit against Murray was being thrown out due to lack of information provided by Joe Jackson about the clinics in which Murray supposedly practiced from.  Without sufficient information on location, a judge cannot determine if the Federal Court has jurisdiction.  Joe Jackson was given one week to correct the documentation or the case would be thrown out.  Murray’s lawyer Ed Chernoff has maintained the doctor’s innocence, saying he did not administer the fatal dose of propofol and that perhaps Jackson administered it to himself.  Anesthesia experts have said the possibility of Jackson administering the drug himself is highly unlikely.  If the trial continues, Murray could face a sentence of up to 4 years.

So one has to ask if this really is a case for a medical malpractice attorney or if Jackson would have found the drugs some other way, without the help of a doctor, leaving the brunt of the responsibility in his hands.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the late Gary Coleman had been divorced from his ex-wife, Shannon Price for nearly two years. Confirmation came through Randy Kester. “”I can confirm they’ve been divorced since Aug. 12, 2008,”" said Kester, the attorney who handled the divorce.

This led to some questions as to whether Ms. Price had the legal authority to make medical decisions for Mr. Coleman. These concerns were raised after Ms. Price allowed Mr. Coleman to be taken off of life support in late May. However, evidence has surfaced that confirms the actor had given Price written permission to make medical decisions on his behalf. Hospital officials have refused to comment further on the case. One thing in this case is certain; the actions of Gary Coleman and Shannon Price have left many people with questions.

Greg the Barber Choked Out

It was reported a few years back that a man known only as “Greg the Barber” knocked out former CEO and co-founder of Death Row Records, Suge Knight at a nightclub in California. This time around it was Greg that was down for the count.

Late last week the LAPD obtained footage of “Greg the Barber” getting choked out by a bouncer in front of a well known Los Angeles night club where he was seen partying earlier.  Police showed up and arrested Greg instead of the bouncer who choked him out.

The police were called to the Wonderland Nightclub in Hollywood sometime around 2:00am this past Friday morning and were at the scene within minutes. The details of the phone conversation revealed that  Greg had apparently been making threats the whole night to employees of the club, some of those being violent.  Upon arrival of the police, a check was run on Greg and it was brought to their attention that he had outstanding warrants from previous incidents that occurred, which is why he was arrested.

After the arrest, Greg informed the police that he had been attacked earlier in the evening by a bouncer outside the nightclub. It wasn’t until the next morning that the police saw surveillance video of the choke out. It wasn’t quite clear who did the choking but Greg has been assured that they are investigating who the bouncer was, however they are also investigating him for shoving the bouncer. Being choked out the way he was, he was probably injured in some way from the amount of excessive force to his neck. Greg the barber should probably seek representation from someone like the Jackson personal injury lawyers in his area.  It would be in his best interest if he is looking to get fair compensation for any pain or suffering he may have encountered from the choke out.

Rumors streamed through online forums last week as fans question the death of singing sensation Beyonce Knowles. Luckily no such truth came from these rumors, however what was true was Beyonce’s involvement in a near death car accident in London. The Sun reported the shocking news of Beyonce’s car door being ripped off the hinges by a passing taxi cab just as she was about to step out of the car.

It was during a Tuesday when the couple, Jay-Z and Beyonce, went out on a casual shopping trip before their dinner date in the city of London. As they were about to step out of their car to enter luxury store Harrods, the cab sped by missing Beyonce by mere inches as it collided with the singer’s Mercedez Benz. A source tells the publication, “It was terrifying to watch. It all happened so quickly, the taxi came out of nowhere. She seemed very shaken and was lucky to be alive. A couple of seconds’ difference and God knows what could have happened.”

What could have been a world wide tragedy luckily resulted in a close call for celebrity Beyonce, however some individuals may not be as fortunate. There are  London accident attorneys to LA car accident lawyers to personal injury attorneys in Jackson that deal with car accident and personal injury cases everyday. Like Beyonce, it is normal for individuals to be in a state of shock when involved in a car crash. Automobile accident lawyers are able to help mitigate situations and provide expertise advice in handling any serious injuries incurred from an accident.

It’s official, former WCW and WWF wrestling super star Hulk Hogan is now suing his auto insurance company. Hogan claims that this near fatal car crash that was a result of his sons wreckless driving compromised his $30 million dollar fortune.

Wells Fargo Southeast, the insurance of the Hogan family reported that they only paid an amount of $250,000 to John Graziano, who is now severely disabled due to Nick Hogan and his foolish driving that led to the car crash which injured Mr Graziano

The problem here is that Hulk believes that the $250,000 dollar policy limit had exposed his pockets leaving him with a personal liability when the case was settled. Hogan claims that insurance reps at Wells Fargo never advised him or anyone in his family about changes in his policies when his children were added to the policy. The reason for the changes is because teenage drivers pose a larger risk when it comes to being insured, which is something this World Championship Wrestler says he had no idea about.

The lawsuit does not disclose the actual amount that the Hulk Hogan paid out to settle with the Graziano family, although no amount of money can make up for being responsible for another person becoming a parapolegic. Hopefully Hogan can find himself a reputable Bad Faith Insurance Expert to help him win this case. The beloved wrestler is going to be suing the company for an unknown amount.
