Denver police officers
arrested OneRepublic drummer Edward Ray Fisher this past Tuesday for assault, disturbing the peace and destruction of private property.
Fisher broke into girlfriend Lonnie Weygant’s home and took out what appeared to be a considerable amount of anger on Weygant’s property. Weygant said that Fisher forced his way into her home in a rage and destroyed the cabinets. Police arrested Fisher Tuesday morning, and he had a court appearance one day later. He pled not guilty to all of the charges against him.
Depending on the extent of the damage, destruction of property may be a misdemeanor or a felony charge in Colorado. Back in March, Russell Brand was charged with felony property damage in Louisiana, where damage costing more than $500 to repair is considered a felony. The law also differs in Texas, where an Austin criminal defense attorney would have to advise a party how to proceed if charged with property damage based on state law.
Fisher has been a member of OneRepublic since 2005. He has been credited for writing a number of the band’s songs on their 2007 album Dreaming Out Loud, and has drummed on tracks for a number of other artists.
