NBA Star Matt Barnes Sued in Auto Accident Lawsuit

Basketball forward Matt Barnes has been named as a defendant in an auto accident lawsuit filed by a family whose car he hit in March of 2011.

According to the suit, Barnes was driving on the Harbor Freeway in L.A. when he rear-ended their vehicle. One adult and three minors were injured as a result of his actions and are seeking compensation from the star.

Reports indicate that the family wants compensation upwards of $25,000 for:

• Pain and suffering
• Medical bills
• Property damage
• Other losses

Barnes has not yet responded to the suit, but it’s quite possible he’s been busy dealing with the aftermath of his late July arrest. He and his lawyer will need to take prompt action if he wishes to resolve this injury lawsuit without having the settlement value skyrocket — a rear-end accident often places the majority of liability on the defendant, in this case Barnes.
