One month after going on welfare despite swearing she never would and a week after making headlines for supposedly forcing her children to live in squalor, Octomom Nadya Suleman has filed for bankruptcy in California.
TMZ broke the news approximately an hour ago so details are still pretty scarce, but court paperwork shows Suleman has filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition. Also known as liquidation, Chapter 7 bankruptcy involves the sale of all non-exempt assets in an effort to pay off all eligible debts. Suleman will still be responsible for nondischargeable debts such as taxes owed from the last three years, as well as any student loans. Since bankruptcy law is decided on a federal level with minor variations occurring on a state-by-state basis, the same would be true in a Dallas or a Des Moines Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing.
The mother of 14 total children, Suleman has four daughters and ten sons born between 2001 and 2009.
