Mena Suvari and Ex Reach a Divorce Settlement

Life might once again become nice as pie for American Pie actress Mena Suvari.

Suvari has finally reached a divorce settlement with ex-husband Simone Sestito, according to the New York Daily News. The pair met five years ago and separated in January of 2012 when Suvari filed for divorce. She requested that neither she nor Sestito pay alimony, but Sestito disagreed with this part of the filing.

Since their nuptials, Sestito has become accustomed to eating out in some pretty high end restaurants and claims that the actress can afford $17,000 in spousal support that he asked for because she brings in three quarters of a million dollars a year in income. However, before you bet the equivalent of the salary for a Boston divorce lawyer that Suvari will pay the hefty sum, it seems that good sense has ruled the day.

The two reached a settlement in mid-May, and neither of them will pay support to the other. This is probably a relief for Suvari, who is visiting divorce court for the second time in her life. (She was previously married to cinematographer Robert Brinkmann.)

But Suvari has tried to be philosophical about the road she’s taken. She said in a recent interview, “Honestly, I never thought that at 33 I’d be a two-time divorcee. But OK, if that’s the path my life is going down, then I accept it.”

She also said that the events have caused her to become more introspective and to re-evaluate who she spends her time with.
