While Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry separated quite some time ago, their legal proceedings are far from over. Aubry has been seeking an increase in monthly child support payments—to the tune of a mere $20,000 a month.
Aubry was back in court yesterday morning as part of his request for a child support order modification for 4-year old Nahla, but his hearing did not occur because of errors in his legal documents. If the rumors are true about Halle Berry and fiancé Olivier Martinez moving to France, Aubry’s petition may ultimately be rejected as Nahla’s father-daughter time would be greatly lessened.
Only time can tell what will happen in Berry and Aubry’s child support case, but Aubry had better be more careful with his paperwork next time around. Mistakes such as these occur far too often in spousal and child support and custody proceedings, and Westlake Village family lawyers counsel clients to exercise great care to avoid them. Even little mistakes can set order modifications back by months and result in more expensive legal bills.
An update: in addition to $20,000 a month in child support for Nahla, Aubry is also asking Berry for $500,000 in attorney’s fees. Ouch!
6/21/2012: a judge ordered Berry to pay $20,000 to Aubry per month in child support on June 18th. According to TMZ, this is actually the first official custody order the pair has had.
