Alas, we’ve found something dumber than getting your spouse’s name tattooed on your arm. It absolutely amazes me that celebrities still get married these days without concluding the prenup business first. With a 50% and rising, nation-wide divorce rate, and non-stop high-profile divorce d.r.a.m.a everywhere you look, you’d think people would start to catch on. We live in a world where 55-hour marriages happen and they’re kind of not that big of a deal. Even TV actress Jana Kramer and her husband of one month, Jonathan Schaech, just filed for divorce. That’s right, one month. And Elizabeth Taylor had how many husbands?

Kelsey Grammer is the latest of the celebs to face the divorce papers after his wife of 13 years, Camille Donatacci Grammer (wife #3), filed for divorce not six weeks ago (and P.S., 55-year-old Grammer just found out his new 29-year-old girlfriend – and where did she come from suddenly? – is expecting his fifth child). See? Drama. Yet even given his past, having been married twice before, Grammer didn’t feel it necessary to have Donatacci sign a prenuptial agreement before the wedding vows. And now she has claim to syndication residuals from the last 7 seasons of “Frasier.”

When Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe got married in 1999, they also decided against a prenup. Then 6 years later when they divorced, they had to split their earnings. And she was making 10 times more than he was at the time. Good for him.

And let us not forget Sir Paul McCartney and his disastrous divorce to Heather Mills, which ended horrifically after only 4 years.  Sure, they were in love, but I would put $48.7 million on him never making that mistake again.

Sandra Bullock on the other hand, now here’s a gal who uses her head – her cheating ex, Jesse James, won’t get a dime of her Miss Congeniality cash.  She was smart enough to have him sign a prenuptial agreement before the I love yous and together forevers, keeping her assets and property out of his hands.

It may not feel great to have the conversation, to rain on the parade and predict a chance of divorce, but ask Kelsey Grammer if he would do anything differently if given the chance to go back and do it all again.

Cheers to you, Frasier Crane.
I sure hope you’ve got a good family law firm.

Palin / Johnston Engagement is OFF

US Magazine

Shocking! Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have called off their engagement for the second time!

Shortly after the infamous couple announced to the world in July they were back together and ready to make it work, things quickly headed south.

Rumors had spread that one of Johnston’s ex-girlfriends was pregnant with his child. While a different (unnamed) girl is pregnant with his child, the rumors were fairly accurate. In fact, Johnston confessed this to Bristol on the very day they released their engagement news.

Palin and Johnston have been on and off since she was a freshman at Juneau-Douglas High School in 2005. On opening day of the Republican National Convention in September 2008, her pregnancy was announced in an effort to spin her teenage pregnancy into a positive light for her mother’s vice presidential campaign.

Their first engagement fell apart shortly after their son’s birth, in March 2009.

“[Levi’s] just obsessed with the limelight and I got played,” lamented Bristol Palin in a recent interview about the called-off engagement.

So what’s the take-away for Miss Palin? “Through this whole experience I know I need a man who’s going to be completely honest with me.”

She added that she’d like to find someone who shares her religious beliefs and comes from a good family.

Mel Gibson appears to hate everyone. The 54-year-old outspoken actor is being investigated due to domestic violence allegations that have surfaced. The allegations likely came from his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, whom Gibson has been locked in a brutal custody dispute with over their 8-month-old daughter, Lucia.

The Russian singer Grigorieva, 40, filed a restraining order in June that claimed that Gibson punched her in the face “more than once” in January, causing a broken tooth and concussion. Sources close to Gibson have denied any wrongdoing.

Gibson’s most famous run-in with the law occurred in July 2006 (mug shot seen here), when he was arrested for DUI and then made anti-Semitic remarks to the arresting officer, who is Jewish.

Melissa Etheridge BreakupThe nearly nine-year run for Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels appears to be over. Etheridge is a 49-year-old singer who has won two Grammy Awards and sold more than 27 million albums worldwide. Recently she filed a Petition for Dissolution of Domestic Partnership in an L.A. County Superior Court. Etheridge cited irreconcilable differences and asked for joint custody of the couple’s 3-year-old twins. In addition to this, Etheridge asked that Michaels not be awarded any financial support.

Etheridge and Michaels, who exchanged wedding vows in Malibu in September 2003, first announced their separation in April 2010, saying in a statement: “We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period.”

According to NY Daily News, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Lisa Ann Russell have separated. The couple has been married for 13 years, but have recently had some differences. Mark is best known for his role in Saved by the Bell, but has recently found a new role in the TV series called Franklin & Bash.

Lisa and Mark have a six year old named Michael Charles, and a four year old named Ava Lorenn.

An insider told newspapers that Mark is taking the split very hard. One report said that Gosselaar failed to show up to promote his new TNT series called “”Franklin & Bash”". This may be a result of the separation.

While Mark and Lisa will undoubtedly remain committed to their children, their separation will not be easy for either party.
