Dennis Quaid and Wife Kimberly to Divorce

After seven years of marriage, Dennis Quaid and his third wife Kimberly Buffington-Quaid have decided to divorce. Kimberly filed a divorce petition on March 2 in Travis County, Texas. In the petition, Kimberly cited discord and personality conflict as the primary reasons for the irreconcilable split.

In contrast, numerous witnesses and Hollywood insiders cite Dennis’ alcohol addiction, volatile temper and marital infidelity as the reasons for the divorce. The Quaids’ marriage has been rocky from the start. In 2010, they moved to Texas from Los Angeles. At the time, Kimberly suggested that the change in their primary residence would be beneficial for the couple.

The divorce petition outlined Kimberly’s desire to receive spousal support and attorney fees. Dennis denied his wife’s demands to split their property when he responded to the petition, a move which divorce attorneys in Lawrenceville would say is entirely within his rights. As per a court order, Kimberly received access to the primary residence in Austin and the Mercedes. Dennis will live in their condo and drive the Cadillac Escalade.

The Quaids have two children, twins Zoe and Thomas, born in 2007. In the divorce petition, Kimberly expressed her desire to work with Dennis to write a document that details the custody arrangement for the children. A temporary court order gave both parents visitation time. An updated custody order that details how the couple decided to split their parenting responsibilities is unavailable for public perusal at this time.

Several days after the Quaids signed the divorce petition, Kimberly’s publicist issued a statement that verified the divorce but denied the rumors of disagreement and strife between the couple. Despite Dennis’ initial reluctance to give Kimberly access to their marital assets, the publicist maintained that the couple is pursuing an amicable settlement. She declined to give further details, in keeping with the couple’s desire for privacy.
