Dez Bryant was arrested Monday night in Texas and charged with a Class A misdemeanor for family violence. He has already been released on bail.
Bryant and his half-brother were involved in a heated argument on July 14th during which Bryant allegedly pushed and hit their mother. She called 911 to report the situation and police came to the house, as is standard in such incidents. Bryant could be in serious trouble if found guilty — a domestic violence lawyer can easily tell you that a Class A family violence conviction in Texas is punishable with jail time of no more than a year and fines up to $4,000.
Bryant surrendered himself to police in response to the incident and appears to be cooperating with law enforcement officials. His attorney told TMZ that “We’re going to do an investigation, find out what happened for ourselves. The most important thing is that we heal the family.”
Bryant has been a wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys since 2010.
