Drug Charges

So the next American Idol could have been a …criminal?!  Antonio Weller aka Sii Bo Ski, tried out for American Idol Atlanta and passed on to Hollywoods’ Idol tryouts, has a strong background in drug crime & other criminal acts in central Florida.  Apparently, Skii Bo Ski made his first camera appearance not on American Idol but on Florida’s Fox 25 for a mug shot in March of 2005.  Antonio was arrested for cocaine possession.  Since then he has been arrested for other criminal charges such as possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting an officer and contempt of court.

Weller made it through the Atlanta competitions and is now on his way to Hollywoods competition.  He was last released on the first January from the Orange County Jail.  American Idol producers responded with no comment after questioned as to what they look into as far as criminal background checks on contestants.

DUI Charges Seem to Follow George Michael

George Michael, famous English singer previously of the group Wham! hit a tractor-trailer early Friday in London. The 47-year-old musician was said to be driving over 100 mph when he caused the trucking accident. The truck driver said Michael appeared to be confused and dazed when he abandoned his car. Witnesses at the scene said he appeared intoxicated; however, he was later released after being questioned by the police.

Previous DUI Offenses

George Michael is no stranger to providing a defense for DUI and drug possession charges. In February 2006, he was charged with drug possession. In April of that same year he hit parked cars while the next month he was involved in another motor vehicle crash. The next incident in October of 2006 left Michael unconscious. The punishments in the 2006 DUI incidents amounted to community service and a fine. Finally, in June 2007, George Michael was banned from driving for two years.

Sexual Misconduct

The infamous driving while intoxicated celebrity was also arrested in 1998 for engaging in a lewd act in a Beverly Hills, California park bathroom. The police officer who made the arrest was unfortunately the victim of a video which Michael later made poking fun at the incident. In 1998, the police officer filed a personal injury lawsuit against Michael for emotional duress. The case was later dismissed.

Well-Known for DUI Charges

Most celebrities want to be well-known for their achievements. George Michael, even though he sold over 100 million records worldwide in this career, is becoming well-known for his legal issues instead.

What about drug possession and carrying them into a jail facility? Not a very common offense but that is exactly what Redmond O’Neal, son of actor Ryan O’Neal and actress Farrah Fawcett, was charged with back in April of this year. Apparently, Redmond had been driving recklessly around the parking lot with some friends prior to his visit with an inmate. A deputy at the jail conducted a check on the car when Redmond confessed that he was possessing drugs. Good news is that nobody was hurt by his crazy driving.

This is not his first brush with the law for drug possession. In June of 2008 he was convicted of a DUI and drug possession but was given probation. What a shame, it looks like he hasn’t learned his lesson.
