As previously covered here on CelebLegalIssues.com, the battery charge comes as a result of Johnson allegedly headbutting wife Evelyn Lozada last month. Johnson was arrested on August 11th, and it later came to light that this was his second arrest for domestic violence. While he was released from police custody after posting $2,500 bail, Lozada would not to see him and filed for divorce within days on the grounds that their marriage is “irretrievably broken.” Johnson is refusing to sign any divorce paperwork and hopes for reconciliation, but it appears as though Lozada is determined to end their relationship.

Johnson was arraigned this morning. He entered a not guilty plea in response to the charges against him, a move any domestic violence lawyer would encourage a client to take given the social stigma associated with domestic violence as well as the legal ramifications.

If convicted of domestic violence, Johnson faces a year in county jail.
