From her high-profile divorce to Kris Humphries to the many lawsuits she’s been a part of, this famous Kardashian sister makes for an interesting topic of discussion.

Kim K is as well-known for the racy photos she posts of herself on Twitter as she is for her work in reality television. Her work as a model also garners a fair amount of attention, as does her business savvy. For our purposes today, we’ll focus on the 31-year-old star’s brushes with the law.

Divorces

Kardashian has been married twice. Her first marriage occurred well before she became a household name and was to music producer Damon Thomas. Their union officially lasted from 2000 to 2004, with Thomas filing for divorce in 2003. Paperwork Kardashian filed in response to his petition stated that Thomas psychically and psychologically abused her, a claim Thomas emphatically denies.

Kardashian’s second marriage to Kris Humphries lasted a whopping 72 days and has become the butt of a great many jokes. (It even made our Top 10 Celebrity Divorce Stories post!) Within months of marrying Humphries, Kardashian filed a divorce petition citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. They are said to have signed an iron-clad prenuptial agreement and were supposedly close to ending settlement talks as early as two months ago, but nothing has been finalized yet. Kardashian isn’t letting dragged out divorce proceedings stop her life though — she has been dating Kanye West for several months and gossip magazines report the couple is very happy.

Business law

Kardashian is more than just a pretty face; she’s also an excellent businesswoman with what is either a very good business lawyer or a thorough understanding of business law. On top of her many endorsement deals and modeling gigs, she co-founded ShoeDazzle shopping back in 2009 and has released a workout DVD series. She sisters Khloe and Kourtney have a clothing boutique called D-A-S-H and have released collections of clothes sold at Sears and on QVC. She is also a producer for The Spin Crowd.

Lawsuits

If you think one lawsuit is complicated enough to deal with, try putting yourself in Kardashian’s shoes! She’s been sued for everything from defamation to false and deceptive marketing.

Don’t feel sorry for Kardashian being named as a defendant in so many suits, though. She’s also been the plaintiff in a lawsuit over ownership of her sex tape with singer Ray J, in a defamation lawsuit involving an ex-publicist and a suit against Old Navy for using a model that resembles her.

What’s next for Kardashian

It looks as if there is no end in sight for Kardashian’s relationship with the court system. She’ll be dealing with a lawyer as she finalizes her divorce with Humphries in the coming months (or years, depending on how long the divorce drags out) and is reportedly in the process of selling her L.A. home. She may also be back in court again in 2013 for her lawsuit against Old Navy.
