Misdemeanors

July 15, 2010

Last month, stars of the new hit television Jersey Shore, cast members Jwoww & Snooki found themselves in a bit of a situation and no not the situation your probably thinking of.  It was reported that while the two were in Miami filming for Season 2 of the reality series, the guidettes let their Jersey Temper out.

Carrie Malec of Chicago is suing these two Jersey Shore Stars in addition to MTV & Viacom for over $75,000 for injuries she suffered.  She claims that the two roughed her up during a taping when the fight went down this past May 6th in an undisclosed South Beach Nightclub.

Sources say that this lawsuit could have had a huge impact on the upcoming Season 2 because Malec wants that episode to never make it to our television sets.  Representatives for both Snooki & Jwoww are confident that they can win any lawsuit that may be thrown their way, although they haven’t quite heard anything as of yet.

This comes right after Sammi, another Jersey Shore cast member recently popped a woman in the face only a few weeks earlier in another Miami Nightclub.

No criminal charges were pursued because she was out of Florida before the police could get to her.  If she ever returned to Miami, Sammi could face battery charges.  With all of these altercations in Miami as of late with these MTV Reality Show Stars, it would probably be in the best interest of the victims to seek out personal injury attorneys to help recover damages done from these attacks as they are claiming season 2 has bigger fist pumps and bigger fights.

Lindsey Lohan has had her share of trouble with the law, and her newest penalty is to a wear a piece of jewelry. Although, it’s certainly not the kind of jewelry Lindsey is used to wearing. She will be forced to wear a SCRAM monitoring bracelet around her ankle in addition to daily drug tests.

This was all the result of Lindsey’s 2007 arrests for drunken driving and misdemeanor drug charges. On Thursday, the judge ordered an arrest warrant for Ms. Lohan when she failed to appear for a probation hearing. The warrant was revoked when Lindsey posted her $100,000 bail and claimed that while in Cannes he passport had been stolen and she could not leave France.

The judge ordered the young actress to attend an alcohol education program, as well as set a probation violation hearing, in addition to his sentencing of the bracelet and drug testing. Lindsey entered a plea in court to ease the restrictions placed on her, but they were denied, bearing perhaps the most severe consequences for the star’s already unstable career. She has been dropped from a Texas film because of her inability to be on location for the shoots as a result of the restrictions. Pending the results of her probation violation hearing, Lindsey might have an even harder time in the future finding room for her movie career. She should seek knowledgeable Los Angeles criminal attorneys to help her out of her troubles.

Talented professional basketball star, Allen Iverson, is in legal trouble again because of an overly aggressive security guard. Ohio resident, Guy Walker, claims to have suffered “severe pain, emotional distress, and mental anguish” from injuries caused by Antwuan Clisey, one of Iverson’s security guards. He says that in April he was the victim of an unprovoked attack at the South Beach Pizza Bar in Detroit. The altercation cleared the bar, including Iverson, who was escorted out by his remaining guards. Walker claims that Mr. Iverson did nothing to stop the initial attack, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Since the incident last year, Walker has filed an eight page complaint with the district court in Detroit, MI, seeking $2.5 million plus damages. He says he suffered “an orbital blowout fracture of the eye” among other injuries.

This case, to be handled by a Michigan law firm, much like a Kalamazoo accident law firm, is similar to another suite Iverson faced in 2005.  Marlin Godfrey sued Iverson after he was beat up by one of his body guards at a nightclub.  He was then awarded $260,000.  I am curious to see if Iverson will be able to “buy” himself out of this one.

Allen Iverson was a member of the Detroit Pistons, but recently was reacquired by the Philadelphia 76ers.  Various lawyers and attorneys are now questioning how the case might affect his game, a good question for Kalamazoo personal injury attorneys in Michigan. Walker would want to know for what price the athlete would be willing to settle the case if it might hurt his focus in the games. As a pivotal figure in the NBA, could the stress of an exhausting trial jeopardize his value as a player?

SANTA BARBARA, CA - SEPTEMBER 28: In this han...

A bit of background: Heather Locklear is currently serving a three-year probation term after she was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription drugs back in September 2008. She pleaded “guilty” to a more minor charge of reckless driving in January 2009.

In the early morning hours of April 18, Heather Locklear was arrested for allegedly hitting a “No Parking” sign near her home in Ventura County, CA and leaving the scene.

A neighbor reported hearing a crash around 4 a.m. The 48-year-old actress apparently left the scene without telling anyone what happened and was cited for a misdemeanor hit-and-run.

Blair Berk, an attorney for the actress, said Locklear was cited as the vehicle’s owner but said “it is not yet clear who was driving the vehicle.”

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain Eric Dowd, this case will be heard May 17 at Simi Valley Court.

So…cops have no ammo to prove Locklear was driving the car and crashed it into the sign. But if she didn’t do it then who did? And what happened?

Guess we’ll find out May 17…

The oldest son of Real Housewives of Atlanta star, NeNe Leakes, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge on March 7 for possession of marijuana. Followers of the show are familiar with the son, Bryson, who NeNe took to look at colleges in the first season. Bryson ought to look at law schools to pursue a career as a Tennessee cancer lawyer and criminal defendant to be prepared for these troubles in the future.

‘Like any parent, I am disappointed with the actions and arrest of my son, Bryson,” NeNe said in a statement. “Certainly, my husband and I will deal with this family issue in a private manner. My son is not the first young adult to experiment with marijuana, and he certainly won’t be the last. Still, as parents, this is a chance for us to have an open dialogue with him about the dangers of any substance abuse. I realize as a parent that my job is never done. And as I’ve tweeted, tough love was in order. Still, I ask that you respect our privacy during this trying time.”

If Bryson continues the cancer-inducing habit, perhaps they should seek cancer attorneys as well as criminal attorneys.  As for NeNe’s statement about privacy, with a new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta starting, will she be respecting Bryson’s privacy?  Seems like someone likes to be in the spotlight, whether its good or bad.
