To some, this news maybe shocking. To others, it doesn’t even come as a surprise as to what happened last Thursday following the Lakers nail-biting win over the Boston Celtics.  For those of you who haven’t turned on a TV on or stepped foot outside since then, here is what everyone is talking about.

Directly after Kobe Bryant secured his fifth championship ring, a riot broke loose outside of the Staples Center, tearing through the neighborhood and causing massive amounts of damage to downtown L.A. The police were out in full force to battle the riots, but seemed to favor on the crowds rioting near the newly constructed urban mall, LA Live.   Small business owners were left to fight off the drunken fans who were causing all of the damage by themselves.  Looks like they might be contacting a Los Angeles criminal defense law firm to help them get compensated for any damages.

The Lakers Public Relations representative issued a statement of regret about what the fans did that night and showed his disgust, while a  psychiatrist also issued a comment to the local news station that this type of post victory behavior is almost expected these days. This has not really been the case with other recent sporting event victories, however. Take for instance this past Superbowl in New Orleans. When the Saints were victorious at Super Bowl 44, there was no rioting to be found anywhere, putting the psychiatrist from L.A. to shame.

This theory doesn’t hold up and really can’t be taken too seriously. What should be taken seriously is everyone that was affected by the riots in L.A. and the damage done to their property. A lot of people don’t really know what to do when something like this happens. For any of the rioters who got caught, their first step to take would be to contact the Los Angeles criminal attorneys nearest them to discuss what their options are. As a victim, your first step should be to consult your personal attorney and see what damages you can seek from the rioters that may have caused any sort of damage to your personal property such as your car, business location or home.

Did you know that one of the most notorious criminal couples met in Texas?  Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow met in 1930.  The star-crossed criminals, ages 19 and 21 respectively, went on a three year crime spree until their death at the hands of FBI agents in 1934.  Between the both of them, Bonnie and Clyde murdered at least 13 people, and were involved in numerous robberies, burglaries, car thefts, and kidnapping.

Two bright Texas students, Diane Zamora and David Graham, were arrested for the murder of 16 year old sophomore Adrianne Jones of Manfield High School in Tarrant County.

In 1995, Zamora was jealous of a sexual encounter she thought Graham had with Jones.  She ordered Graham to kill Jones.  Although the body was found soon after the murder, the couple’s involvement was not discovered until Zamora boasted to fellow students at the Naval Academy in Annapolis that she was responsible for someone’s death.  The students reported the murder to their superiors and that started the ball rolling and the couple was arrested shortly thereafter.  At the time, Graham was a cadet at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and both had very promising futures.  Both Zamora and Graham were charged with capital murder and in need of a criminal defense lawyer.

Some of the targets? Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox and Orlando Bloom, to name a few.

The six “Bling Ring” members – Nick Prugo, Rachel Lee, Courtney Ames, Alexis Neiers, Diana Tamayo and Roy Lopez are headed back to the courtroom and some of them are willingly speaking out.

Prugo, the 19-year-old who was arrested last September is one of them.

“There was a definite thrill to it,” he told People magazine. “I don’t think any of us realized how severe it was until we actually got caught. It didn’t seem as bad as it was.”

The group’s leader, 19-year-old Rachel Lee, plead “not guilty” to a number of theft charges in an LA courtroom on Wednesday. The charges included receiving stolen property.

The rest of the accused group have entered not-guilty pleas to charges related to the alleged crime spree.

Kirsten Dunst Testifies in 2007 Burglary Case in NYC

Famous actress, model, and singer Kirsten Dunst, best known for her role in the Spider Man movie, is appearing in a New York City courtroom today. The Point Pleasant native is testifying on her own behalf against James Jiminez and Jarrod Beinerman, individuals accused of burglarizing Dunst’s Soho hotel room back in 2007. The penalties for burglary in New York City can be found in the New York Penal Code, Article 140.

Surveillance video caught the two perps leaving Dunst’s room at the Soho Grand Hotel with the stolen goods. Reports have said they took a Balenciaga purse worth $13,000, Marc Jacobs’s handbag, cash, credit cards, cell phone, iPod, and two cameras from Dunst’s hotel room.

2008 was not a great year for Dunst

2008 was a busy year for Dunst, legally and personally. Claiming “depression” but we think rehab, Dunst checked into the famous and tony Cirque Lodge in Utah in early 2008. Celebrities also treated at Cirque Lodge were Melanie Griffith, Lindsay Lohan, and Eva Mendes. Cirque Lodge is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in the beautiful mountains of Utah. Dunst gets Restraining Order

Also in 2008, Kirsten Dunst received a restraining order against Christopher R. Smith in Los Angeles Superior Court for stalking and trespassing on the actress’s property.

Hopefully this year will prove to be a better one for Kirsten Dunst.
