Poor Britney. She just can’t seem to catch a break. Every time she thinks things are coming up roses, something starts to stink. Now Britney Spears is being sued by Brand Sense Partners for allegedly creating a secret deal with Elizabeth Arden, which cut them out of their commission. The $10 million perfume lawsuit was recently filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
According to TMZ, Brand Sense is a licensing firm that aided in originally launching her fragrance line. Per the contract that they helped broker with Elizabeth Arden, they were to receive 35 percent commission on the line. The perfume lawsuit alleges that Spears and her father later secretly made a deal with Elizabeth Arden in “a sneaky, under-handed effort to circumvent and evade its obligations to Brand Sense.”
Essentially, they sued Spears for improperly cutting them out of the Elizabeth Arden deal.
Brand Sense sued Britney Spears for $10 million, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.
Try not to dwell on the fact that the has-been popstar actually has a perfume empire and that people are still buying into it. Focus on the case.
No word from Team Britney yet. Let’s hope they can turn this into a sweet deal again. Visit CelebLegalIssues.com for more info on Britney Spears getting sued, celebrity contract law, bankruptcy and more!
